Greater Kandy Water Supply Project – Design & Supervision.

Location : Gatambe, Sri Lanka

Client : JICA Study Team.

Project Duration : November 2001 - June 2002 (Design) / December 2003 - 2006.

Project to provide water supply to the Greater Kandy area comprising 10 towns and enhance the water supply of Kandy town.

Kaluganga Water Supply Project - Design & Supervision.

Location : Colombo and Kalutara, Sri Lanka

Client : National Water supply and Drainage Board. / JBIC

Project Duration : June 2000 - August 2001 (Design) / August 2001 - 2006 (construction supervision)

Associate Firms : Nippon Jogesuido Sekkei Co. Ltd. Tokyo Japan.

Project to augment water supply for Greater Colombo area in phased programmers of development. Project comprises intake with capacity of 126,000 cu.m/day, raw water transmission main comprising 1,000 mm dia DI pipe 2,410 m long; treatment plant capacity of 60,000 cu.m/day; clear water transmission main comprising 1,000 mm dia DI pipe 6,700 m long, clear water pumps to deliver 60,000 cu.m/day. High level reservoir of 15,000 cu.m/day capacity, transmission mains from High level reservoir to Bandaragama – 1,200 mm dia DI pipes, length 10,300 m ; Bandaragama to Panadura 800 mm dia DI pipes length 9.700, Panadura to Moratuwa 800 mm dia DI pipes length 10,300 m. Distribution pipe line covering 150 km 20,000 individual connections will be made. In addition offices and staff quarters for operation and maintenance of system and required infrastructure will be provided.

Colombo Environment Improvement Project – Beira Lake Restoration Project 

Location : Colombo, Sri Lanka

Client : National Water Supply and Drainage Board / Urban Development Authority. 

Project Duration : February 1996 - August 2001.

Associate Firms : W S Atkins Consulting Engineers U.K.

Project to clean up the Beira Lake in the center of Colombo by intercepting over 100 individual unauthorized domestic and industrial sewer connections and wastewater outlets discharging into the storm drainage system and connecting them to the city's main sewer network, rehabilitation of pumping stations with capacities of 250 liters per second each and provision of two new station with capacities of 720 liters per second and 15 liters per second.

Seethawaka Industrial Estates Development.

Location : Seethanwa, Sri Lanka.

Client : Nippon Koei Co. / Ministry of Industries. 

Project Duration : April 1995 - September 2000.

JBIC assisted project to develop an industrial estate set in 168 ha in Avissawella. Among other services-designed and supervised construction of water supply and sewerage systems.

ADB Secondary Towns Rural Community Based Water Supply and Sanitation Project.

Location : Batticoloa, Anuradhapura, Pollonaruwa, Muttur, Hambantota, and Matara districts,Sri Lanka

Client : National water Supply & Drainage Board / ADB

Project Duration : December 1999 - March 2000

Urban project components include, upgrading of the Batticoloa water supply system by construction of an intake, water treatment plant, 7 elevated reservoirs, transmission main, distribution system hospital sewerage system, waste water treatment plant and implementing an urban latrine program and rural water supply & sanitation program in the Unnichchai area, Augmentation of the Pollonaruwa water supply system will involve expansion of the existing intake and treatment plant, construction of two elevated reservoirs, transmission mains, distribution system and urban latrines,. Improvement to the Muttur Urban water supply system will include construction of a treatment plant, 3 elevated water towers, transmission mains and distribution system and urban latrines, improvements to the Hambantota urban water supply system includes augmentation of existing intake, expansion of treatment plant, construction of 6 elevated reservoirs, and 3 ground reservoirs, transmission mains, distribution system and urban latrines, improvements to the Matara water supply scheme will comprise the construction of new salinity barrier. Rural water supply and sanitation will be based on a dug well program and will include; community mobilisation and empowerment at the Pradeshiya Sabah level (18) to implement the rural water supply component in the North Central and Eastern Provinces. Latrines will be provided to 24,000 households and a health education program implemented. Training will be provided in O & M, community development and project management and technical areas.

Greater Colombo Sewerage Project.
Location : Colombo Municipal area, Kolonnawa, Rathmalana-Moratuwa, Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal areas, Sri Lanka.

Project Duration : October 1997 - March 2000.

Project to prepare designs on a priority basis to rehabilitate approx 200 km of existing sewerage system and two outfalls in the Colombo municipal area and provide designs for unsewered areas of Greater Colombo.

Feasibility Study Integrated Water Supply Scheme.

Location : Eastern Coastal Areas Ampara District, Sri Lanka.

Client : Water Treatment Australia Pvt. Ltd.

Project Duration : July 1997 - November 1997

Project to provide water to 7 towns and Oluvil University. Project comprises 4 groundwater sumps (max capacity 2.8 mg), 8 elevated towers total capacity 1.3 million gallons plus bulk supply to Oluvil University, 125 km of distribution mains, intake from Himidurawa reservoir, 18 km of 600 mm dia raw water main, treatment plant of max capacity of 36,000 liters per minute & 40 km of transmission main ranging from 600 mm to 400 mm. Project is to benefit a projected population of 300,000 and is for a design horizon of 25 years.

Feasibility Studies Water Supply Systems Ampara & Nawalapitiya Urban Areas and Koggala EPZ .

Location : Ampara, Nawalapitiya Urban areas and Koggala EPZ, Sri Lanka.

Client : KfW , Germany.

Project Duration : November 1995 - October 1996.

Associate Firms : Dorsch Consultant GmbH. 

Project to provide a water supply system through ground water development to augment existing system to meet expected future investments in the Koggala EPZ & control zone, rehabilitate, upgrade and expand water supply systems in the Ampara and Nawalapitiya urban areas to meet present and future requirements. Physical measures considered for project implementation included raw water intakes, treatment plants for Ampara and Nawalapititya projects, 43 km transmission main to Ampara & Samanthurai, 11 km transmission main in Nawalapitiya, rehabilitation of storage reservoirs, provision of a pumping station in Nawalapititya & pumping stations in Koggala EPZ, construction of 32 km distribution system in Nawalapitiya & rehabilitation of distribution system in Ampara.

Male Sewerage Project - Urgent Repairs. 

Location : Male, Maldives.

Client : Maldives Water and Sanitation Authority / KfW Germany

Project Duration : March 1993 - October 1995

Rehabilitation of 9 pump sumps and man holes ranging in sizes from 45 cm x 45 cm, 75 cm x 75 cm and 1m x 1m, depths ranged from 2m to 2.5m due to bio-organic corrosion of the concrete, and deepening of sea outfalls.
